Online Sex Shops vs Bricks and Mortar Sex Shops

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

What are the main good and bad points with respect to buying adult sex toys from an internet retailer in comparison to bricks and mortar sex shops? There are a number of variables to take into consideration when you shop for adult commodities such as adult sex toys but probably the most significant one to take into consideration is the awkwardness element.

If you have not purchased adult toys beforehand it may feel rather overwhelming to walk into a High Street retailer and head straight to the sexual aids area. This might also be the reality if you’re experienced with buying these products. Many people dislike the thought of being stopped by shop assistants, however well meaning they may be, with the purchase of these types of private items. Many people are at the same time anxious they might be noticed entering or departing the shop that might lead to many more possibly anxious moments. Shopping for a sex toy from the internet on the other hand is far more discreet. Many individuals inaccurately assume that the product packaging will be covered in sex shop advertising when it shows up at their home or place of work however this is a total misconception. Online stores dispatch products in plain boxes or padded envelopes that also doesn’t show the name and details of the online store that it was purchased from as the return address. In its place, the much more innocuous parent company’s trading name is used. The parent company’s name will in addition be displayed on any forthcoming credit or debit card statement received. This ensures absolute confidentiality.

When it comes down to price, online stores may also prove to be a better choice simply because the running costs of owning several online shops are often much less expensive than those incurred while running a bricks and mortar outlet. Even though postage prices ought to be included, it’s usually still more inexpensive to buy goods on the internet as opposed to from the High Street. The time factor can work both ways. If you already know what you’re thinking about buying and also have the confidence to go into a bricks and mortar store it can take a shorter period of time than waiting around for the product or products to reach you in the mail. However, if you don’t have enough time to take a special journey into town, it may usually be much easier to have a look at the adult products on the internet and if the item is required as soon as possible, choose to have it sent on a following day service. The volume of choice available is also likely to be much greater over the internet when compared to a bricks and mortar retailer which means you will quite possibly find exactly what you are looking for.

What about returning products? Assuming you have been sent a defective device and want a substitute you’ll have to return the product to begin with prior to receiving the new product. This is where physical outlets can provide an advantage. Should a physical shop has got the identical item in store it can easily be checked for faults and subsequently swapped in the shop. On the contrary, if you need to post a faulty item back to an internet retailer it can take a couple more days. Like the majority of products, faulty adult sex toys are generally more of an exception to the rule than a common occurrence so the need to return anything is normally very low.

In conclusion, both High Steert stores and web-based stores have got their good points and bad points however if its discretion, a higher amount of items to choose from and in most cases a more affordable price which you’re on the lookout for then online adult shops are usually your best bet.

Which is Better – A Dildo or a Vibe?

Monday, April 16th, 2012

Do you want to buy an adult toy but are not really certain whether or not to pick a dong or a vibrating adult toy? Maybe you are not even sure just what the difference between a dong and a vibrating sex toy is. A dong is a non-vibrating adult toy that is invariably in the shape of a phallus. A vibrating sex toy, as the label signifies, is a type of adult sex toy that vibrates. Basically, it is a vibrating dildo. The oscillations can either be one speed or alternatively multispeed all depending upon the type you decide on.

Both dildo sex toys and vibes come in a variety of types such as big, jelly, natural looking and dual penetration. Dongs are often a lot more suitable for beginners because of their lack of vibration. It may also be claimed that smooth vibrators that use twist-dial bases which control the level of vibration can be equally as good to use because their speed settings can be so effortlessly modified.

For first-timers it’s also necessary to take into account the length and width of the adult sex toy. In most instances, it could be a wise move to start off with something quite small and over time build up to products that are more considerable in proportions. Dongs start from 4 to 5 inches in length whereas vibrating sex toys (in the guise of bullets) begin at just a couple of inches in length. Should you start out with a product that’s too big, it might deter you from making any further buys. A suitable choice for novices of both vibrators and dildos are the ones that are constructed from jelly rubber. These kinds of dildos and vibes have got a more supple consistency than the majority of other sex toy materials including hard plastics. Jelly dildos have a degree of pliability which makes them easier to insert whilst still keeping sufficient rigidity to gratify.

If you prefer the thought of vibes more than dongs but are not necessarily at ease with operating multispeed devices right away, singular speed versions make a very good starting place. Should you be concerned by how broad the dong or vibrating adult sex toy may be, thin products can be found that come with widths of an inch or less than that that happen to be considerably smaller than the standard widths of around 1.5 and 1.75 inches.

In case you’re still uncertain just what is the optimum adult toy for your needs between a dildo and a vibrating adult toy you could always get pleasure from the very best of both dildos and vibrators by using a sex toy set. These sorts of selections are ideal for newcomers and also for those that would like to try something a little different and normally contain a dong, one or more vibrators together with various other goodies like love balls, penis sleeves and penis rings.

Vibrators normally provide greater choice in comparison with dongs since they are also attainable as anal vibes, G spot vibrators (that target the female or male G spot), and also pearl and rabbit vibrators (which arouse the female clitoris and the internal areas).

In the end, everything is due to personalised taste as to what you begin with. Both vibrators and dongs produce enhanced levels of fulfilment for a user that causes one or other toy just the thing for adult toy thrills. Make certain you start off quite small and utilise plenty of lube with each of your adult sex toys to make the whole experience much easier!

The Joy of Strap On Dildos in a Heterosexual Relationship

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

When you’re looking to explore new and exciting sexual frontiers in the bedroom, strap on dildos can be a unique way to broaden your experiences. A lot more than a “sex toy for lesbians”, many heterosexual couples also enjoy these adult toys incorporated into their erotic play. Able to be used in several ways, strap-on dildos are great sources of pleasure for him AND her, which makes them an essential addition to any toy collection.

Strap On Dildos: What Do You Need?

When inviting a strap on toy into your bedroom, be aware that these dildos are pleasurable and fun all by themselves, even when used outside of a harness. Made with a wide, flanged base that anchors the toy in a harness, the shape is also comfortable to hold for self use or during partner play, thanks to the wide, easy-to-grip rim at the bottom. Harnesses, which are essentially sturdy underwear that holds the dildo in place, should be researched for comfort and size before buying – it will be helpful to have waist inch measurements on hand to help narrow down the many selections on the market. Reviews, typically available on a sales site, will also help you decide which harness will be best for your needs.

Strap On Dildos: His Pleasure

Men have a secret erogenous zone called the prostate in their “backdoor”. When stimulated or massaged, the area acts much like the female G-spot does, intensifying orgasms and increasing passionate responses. A small, slender strap on is a great place to start experimenting, as this will likely be the most comfortable size for a man just starting out. To specifically target the prostate, look for a dildo with a slight curve to the tip, and a rounded edge for maximum contact. The female partner also shouldn’t be afraid to use a good quality lubricant when engaging in strap on play; the anal area does not make natural lubricant, so lube is a must for comfortable, safe, and healthy strap on experiences.

Strap On Dildos: Her Pleasure

Even with a male partner available, women can enjoy a number of erotic benefits from strap on dildos. Even after a man has experienced orgasm, he can continue to pleasure his partner with these toys, thanks to several innovative designs. Hollow strap ons can be worn over the penis for uninterrupted penetration, and special thigh and hand harnesses allow partners to be physically close and enjoy penetration without depending on the male partner obtaining an erection. A great way to initiate and extend the sex act if the male partner is tired, has a medical condition, or simply wants to completely satisfy his partner, strap on dildos can be a man’s best bedroom friend!

The Benefits of Strap Ons in a Lesbian Relationship

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

In an intimate, loving lesbian relationship, lesbian sex toys can add a pleasurable and exciting level to lovemaking. There is an incredible range of toys available for any couple, but among lesbian couples, the strap-on dildo is perhaps one of the most popular, though some find it a bit of a daunting item to bring into the bedroom initially. For lesbians who desire the sensation of penetration, however, the strap-on can be an exceptionally exciting and endlessly rewarding toy, and can bring a great level of contact to sex.

Strap on dildos come in many different styles, but the first and most important part to take into consideration is the harness. Essentially, any dildo with a flared base can be turned into a strap-on with the use of a harness. Harnesses are made from several different materials, leather being the most common. Leather is most comfortable against the skin, and though it cannot be disinfected, keeping it clean and polished will provide the wearer with a lifetime of sexy fun. Harnesses are also available in nylon, fabric, and vinyl; the fabrics are, of course, machine washable, and vinyl is easily cleaned with soap and water.

Harnesses come in a few different styles, the choice of which depends on the user’s personal taste and which is most comfortable. The G-string style has a single strap between the legs, often providing direct pressure to the genitals during use, which some people enjoy, others do not. This style provides more control than the two-strap harness, which is built more like a jock strap, with two straps running around the buttocks, making for a better fit adjustment. The G-string style is generally considered an easier choice for beginners. Thigh harnesses wrap around the leg, and can be worn by both partners for simultaneous penetration. Also for dual penetration, a double dildo compatible harness is available.

Using a strap-on dildo takes some practice, as it becomes like a new and awkward appendage. Some women may feel self-conscious with the thing dangling between their legs for the first time, but wearing it around the house alone at first may help. The most important part in using a strap-on dildo for the first time in a lesbian relationship is communication. Loving partners can easily get past the awkwardness of the first use together. Plenty of water based lubricant should be used on the dildo, and it is a good idea to penetrate gently with fingers first before charging in with the dildo. A good, consistent pace should be found during the act, again, with good communication between partners.

A strap-on dildo can being an exciting new expression into the bedroom for lesbian couples. With the endless range of styles and sizes, any couple can completely customize this intimate experience, and bring a whole new adventure into lovemaking.

How Sex Toys Can Help an Intimate Relationship

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Intimacy is a beautiful expression of love, but what romance novels never seem to mention is that even the hottest relationships can benefit from a little variety now and then. There are many misconceptions about sex toys that have caused some potential users to refrain from trying them, and they’ve been unfortunately missing out on one of the best ways to spice up play in the bedroom. Sex toys aren’t shameful, harmful, or something only certain types of people use; in fact, many people have not only tried adult toys but have experienced the benefit of a richer relationship with their partner because of them.

Myths about sex toys often sound intimidating, but have little to no basis in reality. A woman will not become “addicted” to vibrators and force her mate out of bed, nor does a man’s use of a masturbator indicate he no longer desires intimacy with his lover: they simply feel great and act as an additional source of pleasure, not a replacement. Adult toys can help anyone learn more about their body and what turns them on, as well as provide a head start to arousal for deeper, more satisfying sexual interactions with a user’s partner.

Sex toys are more than the handful that most uninitiated users imagine. The traditional “stick” vibrator or realistic dildo are certainly wonderful additions to your intimate explorations, but exotic items like a vibrating cock ring may open whole new worlds of pleasure for the adventurous couple. Waterproof adult toys can turn a bathroom into a steamy sex sauna when used to turn on a partner during a mutual shower, and naughty restraint kits with beginner’s bondage accessories can unleash desires that a nervous but excited mate may be hesitant to ask for.

Excellent for foreplay as well, sex toys help set the mood and invite both lovers into an imaginative state of play that will gently guide them towards the main act. Massage candles, which melt into a warm pool of wax for mutual rubdowns, can relax the body and mind for better sensual focus. Edible body dusts can invite kisses, while playful paddles can turn love taps into something much more intriguing. Lover’s games are a great start for those who don’t know where to begin, instructing players as to their next move and adding a fun element of competition to activities between the sheets.

Adult toys come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, so start small and work up for the most comfortable experience, using a little lubricant for an erotic glide. To keep toys in top shape, invest in good batteries, an easy-to-use toy cleaner spray or liquid, and discreet storage cases for safekeeping.

Methods of Contraception

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

If you are about to embark  in a sexual relationship for the first time or you are already sexually active but are not aware of all of the forms of contraception that are available, this article can be used as a handy and informative guide. The right form of contraception can help to keep you safe and prevent unwanted pregnancies. The most common forms that are available are as follows:

Condoms

A popular choice when it comes to staying safe, condoms are usually made of latex and act as a barrier between two partners during intercourse. They help to greatly reduce the risk of catching an STI (sexually transmitted infection) and when being used regularly there is only a very slender chance of the condom splitting, which may in some cases lead to pregnancy. They have elastic properties and are waterproof and durable. Condoms are available in a number of different guises including ultra thin, flavoured, ribbed and dotted. They can be used for penetrative intercourse as well as for oral pleasures.  Female condoms are also available.

The Contraceptive Pill

Also known as the combined oral contraceptive pill (COCP), the contraceptive pill or the pill for short is a method of birth control that uses a combination of hormones to inhibit fertility when taken every day.  Although not a method of preventing the spread of STIs, the pill can regulate and often lighten periods and is thought to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. However, if the contraceptive pill is not remembered to be taken, this can lead to pregnancy.  The mini-pill (POP) can also be taken orally and is recommended for those who should not use the full pill – for example, older women, diabetics and women whose blood pressure has gone up on the pill.

Contraceptive Coils

Contraceptive coils (or intrauterine devices – IUDs) are usually used by young women who have had babies.  Fitting inside the womb, the IUD is only the length of a matchstick and helps to inhibit pregnancy by preventing sperm from getting through the womb and into the tubes, making the womb lining less able to accept an egg and altering secretions in the cervix thus creating an additional barrier for sperm.  Although they do not prevent STIs, they have a 98% effectiveness rate when it comes to birth control. The only notable drawback is that periods may become heavier.

Contraceptive Injection

Lasting for approximately three months, the contraceptive injection (usually injected into a muscle in the backside) contains hormones to help act against pregnancy becoming a reality by inhibiting ovulation. The good thing about having this injection is that unlike the contraceptive pill you do not have to remember to keep taking it. However, it does not prevent the transference of sexual infections and is not recommended for use by women who suffer from migraines.

Skin Patch

Only used by approximately 1% of women, the skin patch, also known as Evra, is an effective external version of the contraceptive pill which you stick onto the skin and works by releasing hormones that stop you from getting pregnant. As with most contraceptive methods this self-adhesive patch (which must be changed every seven days) does come with possible side effects including headaches, nausea and symptoms that are similar to flu. This method does not act as a barrier to STIs.

Withdrawal Method

Used by approximately 4% of the population, the withdrawal method is usually used by young couples or by people who do not use typical methods of contraception. It involves the male partner pulling out before ejaculation. This technique is considerably more risky than traditional forms of contraception if withdrawal is not done early enough and it doesn’t prevent the spread of STIs. However, this method is better than not doing anything at all.

Whatever method of contraception you may wish to investigate, it is always best to discuss it with your partner and speak to your doctor first to make sure that you are familiar with all of the possible side effects.

Lesbian Sex Toys

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Whether you are new or experienced in the use of lesbian sex toys you may be surprised by the amount of choice that is now available on the current market. No longer are lesbian sex toys merely associated with strap ons and doubled ended dildos, although these types of products are still a popular choice amongst the lesbian community.

Strap ons in their traditional guise consist of a dildo that is attached to a harness that is worn around the waist and thighs similar to a pair of briefs. The harness is sometimes supplied with a number of O ring attachments so that if the dildo is detachable, it can easily be replaced with another one that has a different girth measurement. Although these strap ons are still a fashionable choice, there are now a number of different alternatives available. Strap ons now come with wireless and wired multispeed vibrators available as an alternative to dildos. A more recent development is the strapless strap on, either with or without vibration, which as the name suggests, does not include any harness or strapping, but instead comes with a bulbous shaped protrusion which can be inserted into either the anus or the vagina and allows for simultaneous pleasure to both partners.

Double ended dildos or double enders, come in the form of the conventional dildo but are considerably longer which allows for double penetration. Usually in the form of jelly dildos to ensure more easy insertion and better flexibility, double enders are also available with variable speed vibrating action and come in a selection of different lengths and girths depending on personal preference.

Love eggs and pleasure balls can be used in either the vagina or the anus. Either elliptical or circular in shape, these adult toys usually have a soft outer coating, sometimes with a nodular surface, and contain internal steel balls. Once inserted, the constant rolling motion can cause extensive pleasure to the user. Often coming as two balls or eggs connected by a sturdy Nylon cord, these sex toys can be used for sole pleasure or by both partners synchronously. Love eggs and pleasure balls also act an effective pelvic floor toner and exerciser, particularly post childbirth or menopause.

Butterfly sex toys or butterfly stimulators are worn as you would do a pair of briefs but there is one significant difference: they have built a built in vibrating action that stimulates the clitoris. This form of clit stimulator sometimes comes with a small penis plug that is inserted into the vagina for simultaneous vaginal and clitoral stimulation. Clitoral massagers or pumps provide multispeed vibrations to the erogenous zone by causing an increased blood flow to the labia and vaginal area.

Adult toys for lesbians do not just come if the form of products that aim to exhilarate the clitoris, labia, vagina or anus. Female sex pumps can, in most cases, be used on the clitoris and the breasts. By using a hand pump and placing the suction cup over the breasts and nipples a tight vacuum is created thereby generating intense sensations. Some pumps also come with multispeed vibrating action built in to provide additional stimulation.

There are also a considerable number of female sex enhancement products available which intensify female intimate responses whether it is for the nipples, female g-spot or clitoris. With all this in mind, there are a significantly higher number of options available for lesbians today than in previous decades that cater for all budgets and come in a range of different styles, sizes and colours.

Sex Toys For Women

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Why should men have all the fun when it comes to sex toys? With male sex toys such as male masturbators, cock rings and toys, penis pumps, sex dolls, penis sleeves and manhood enhancement products catering specifically for male sex needs and dildos, vibrators, love eggs and bullets, nipple clamps and anal sex toys accounting for the sexual requirements of both sexes, what is aimed specifically at the female erogenous areas?

Rabbit Sex Toys

First introduced in 1998, rabbit sex toys are now established as one of the most popular sex toys used by females. Rabbit sex toys, also known as rabbit vibrators, vary from classic vibrators as they not only feature a shaft for internal vaginal stimulation but attached to this is a smaller vibrator, often in the shape of a rabbit that provides external stimulus to the clitoris via the tickling motion of the rabbit’s ears. Rabbit vibes also often have pleasure pearls built into the shaft that rotate at various speeds during penetration causing a more formidable orgasm. Dolphin and bear clitoral stimulators are also now common in place of the rabbit feature but they are still classed as a form of rabbit sex toy.

Female Sex Pumps

Sex pumps are not only available for men. Female sex pumps aim to arouse the erogenous areas by either increasing the flow of blood to the clitoris or the breasts thus augmenting the pleasure to the labia and the nipples. This is achieved by using a sucking motion to create a vacuum in the pump chamber. Some female pumps also have the added benefit of having a vibrating motion to tickle the intimate female areas simultaneously.

Butterfly Stimulators, Clit Clips and Clitoral Stimulators

Butterfly stimulators, also known as butterfly sex toys, are discreet enough to be worn underneath clothing (for the more daring who wish to wear them whilst out) and generate variable speed massaging vibrations to the clitoris when activated. Coming either with wires or as wireless units some butterfly stimulators also come with mini internal stimulators thus providing twice the excitement. Clit clips in the guise of clitoral jewellery can be worn if you have a clitoral piercing or if you do not. They not only highlight the most intimate feminine areas but more importantly heighten sexual sensations.  Clitoral Stimulators, otherwise known as clit vibrators, traditionally take the form of cock rings that are worn on the base of the penis and have a bumpy surface that arouses the clitoris during intercourse. Mini finger vibrators also fall into this category; they can be used either with a partner or for solo masturbation.

Strap Ons

Popular amongst gay and straight couples, a strap on is a dildo that is traditionally worn with a harness during intercourse. Aiming to stimulate the anal or the vaginal passage, they can also be used for solo or mutual masturbation.  A relatively recent innovation to the strap on market is the strapless strap on. Balancing or a sturdy base, strapless strap ons can simultaneously act on both vaginal and anal areas.

Moreover, with a variety of female sexual enhancement products also available that aim to heighten clitoral sensitivity, heighten orgasms and increase the size and feeling of the female g-spot, female sex toys and enhancement products are just as effective as sex toys aimed solely at the male market.

Bondage and BDSM Checklist

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Download the BDSM Checklist

Ever fancied entering the world of bondage, domination and BDSM but were afraid to because – well – where do you start? It is important for a dominant partner too know what their submissive enjoys, doesn’t enjoy, will do and will not do. But as everyone knows the world of BDSM, is so varied and potentially complex how do you pass on this information, likes and dislikes?

Some will say just tell each other, but let’s face it that can be a bit embarrassing, especially if it is a new mistress, or your relationship is fairly young.

Well we have created a list which, although not exhaustive, will give both partners the chance to express what they desire the most. Use the list as much or as little as you require, you do not need to enter something in every box. Remember the whole idea of BDSM is for both parties to enjoy themselves, so be honest and keep it Safe, Sane and Consensual.

How to use the list

The list is divided into three general areas of bondage activities – fetish activities, medical activities and sexual activities. Within each area the activities are listed with three boxes to be completed.

  • Done it? Yes or no, no explanation needed here.
  • Arousal (0-5). 0 – a turn off, 1 – no opinion (neither a turn off or a turn on), 2 – mild turn on, 3 – a turn on, 4 – major arousal, 5 – incredibly aroused.
  • Consent (0-5). 0 – will never do it under any circumstances (also known as a hard limit), 1 – unwilling but will do it under stern orders if the dominant partner really wants it, 2 – unwilling but will do it under orders, 3 – willing but gets no major enjoyment from it, 4 – wants to do it, 5 – really wants to do it.
