Vibrator Usage – The Facts
With the use of sex toys on the rise and sales of vibrators apparently on the rise at a yearly rate exactly who uses vibrators and how regularly are they used?
Up to the start of the twenty-first century there wasn’t any truly precise research available into who used vibrators. The sole source of knowledge up to that came from the sex shops that retailed them. In recent years sex toys have not only become more popular among ordinary people but also by celebrities with everyone from Hollywood film starts to vocalists stating have used, or do use vibrators at some point. In 2009 more detailed research into vibrator use was undergone by an Indiana University team. The inquiries that were carried out brought about much more detailed feedback on exactly who used them, how often they were used, if the vibrators were sanitised after use and a lot more.
The studies found that just under half of the people that took the survey said they had used a vibe with males totalling forty-five% while females were slightly ahead with fifty-two percent. Why were they being used? Forty-six percent of women used vibrators whilst masturbating compared to the equivalent in males of just 17% percent. Females also used their vibrators during intercourse (thirty-seven percent) whilst just under half of males used a vibrator on their other halves throughout sex or foreplay. Almost fifty percent of the men that have used a vibe had first used a vibe to assist their partner in achieving climax.
It was also interesting to denote that males and females who used vibrators with some degree of regularity felt more at ease and cared for their bodies more. People that had used vibrators were far more likely to have carried out vaginal and testicular examinations as opposed to those that have never used a vibrator.
When it came to cleaning sex toys there were some shocking results. Twenty percent of men and fourteen percent of women stated their toys had never been cleaned. From the people that do clean up their sex toys only three fifths of females and just over 50% of men clean them prior to and following use with the remainder admitting to only cleaning their vibrators either prior to or after use.
A lot of people don’t think that there may be side-effects connected with vibrator use but even though uncommon, it can happen. Males were not asked about it but women expressed that over 70 percent had never suffered from any side effects but of the other 30%, over fifteen percent had reported a feeling of numbness, ten% had suffered a form of irritability, eight% denoted swelling and 4% had encountered either cuts or pain. All of the after effects had been comparatively brief and minor.
The age which people were when they first used a vibrator was diverse. Nearly 20% were under the age of 20, fifty% were in their twenties, over 20% were in their 30s whilst the most unpopular age of first use for respondents was the over 40s with just 10 percent. Overall women were more likely to use vibrators than men. Other notable facts were that the greater number of vibrator users were Caucasian and women that are in a relationship use vibrators more than single women.
